Isaac James

Isaac James has been both a participant and spectator of the fine arts scene in Kalamazoo for a decade since attending Western Michigan University (BM, Vocal Performance, 2019) in 2015. An early student of classic rock, jazz, and blues music since the days of their childhood spent in Niles, Michigan; it is these genres’ influence that proudly intersects with Isaac’s education within the field of Western classical performance and appreciation for music theory conceived as early as the Renaissance period. It is their hope that, in listening to the two selections prepared for this evening’s event, that those of you in the audience would consider meditating on 1) challenges that have cut you down in life, left in humility—followed by 2) things that make you feel safe and at home. Thank you to Syd West for his unwavering support and to Queer Theatre Kalamazoo for this night of art, expression, and shared space for our community.
